Less than a week ago I was having a conversation with a relative who thought it would be economical and good for the country for her to buy a very small electric car, about the size and weight of a golf cart, to use for all of her family’s local driving. She felt that 95% of her time on the road was spent no more than 5 miles from home.
It would be a wonderful idea if virtually all of the other cars operating within 5 miles from her home were also about the size and weight of golf carts.
In yesterday’s St. Pete Times there is the story of two Palm Harbor residents whose cars probably collided less than 2 miles from their homes.
Woman killed in Palm Harbor crash
PALM HARBOR – A Palm Harbor woman died early Sunday in a wreck on Belcher Road and Nebraska Avenue.
Beverly A. Gavin, 44, was headed west on Nebraska in a 2002 Envoy about 1 a.m. when her car collided with a 1985 Toyota MR-2 driven by Dustin G. Stokes, 22, of Palm Harbor, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Stokes had been headed north on Belcher.
