A crane accident on Tuesday morning at an Imperial County construction site landed a railroad worker in the hospital when the heavy steel structure collapsed on him. He escaped the incident with only minor injuries.
The man works for a contractor working on a Union Pacific Railroad Project. The crews were working on the railines when the accident occurred.
As of now, the accident does not appear to be fault of the workers, but instead a mechanical problem with the crane. The victim was transported to the hospital by a medical helicopter, where he was treated and released.
It appears that everyone was acting safely and the failure was on the part of the equipment. Why it happened is still being investigated by officials.
