I’m sure most, if not all, of you have seen and heard about the terrifying entrapment of a three-year-old girl in Key Biscayne, Florida on Monday. In case you need a refresher, here’s a link to a story on the accident from the area’s local CBS station:

It wasn’t easy watching and reading about the poor girl, who was stuck for more than an hour. The only good thing that ever comes out of a horrific accident like this is, maybe, people become more aware of the safety precautions every pool owner and operator should take to protect its swimmers. That means layers of protection — drain covers, safety vacuum release systems, etc. — installed on EVERY pool. Its required by law of public pools, and we strongly advocate private pools following suit.

Minnesota saw a tragic death and as a result they past additional state laws that seem to be getting followed. Hopefully, it won't take these stories for everyone to get it.
