Last Friday a 41-year-old woman was killed, and 5-year-old
child was injured when a cement truck flipped over into their SUV. Maria
Angelica Gamez was killed instantly, while the child in her vehicle was rushed to the
Children’s Medical Center in Dallas in critical condition. The diver of the
truck, 31-year-old Edward Magallon, was traveling south on Texas highway 183
near I-35 when he allegedly swerved to avoid another vehicle causing the truck
to strike and vault the center barrier rolling over into the north bound lanes
of the highway.
After entering the north bound lanes of 183 the truck struck
a motorcycle and landed on top of the SUV. Both the driver and of the truck and
the motor cycle were transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in serious
condition.
The 5-year-old child and the truck driver were released from
the hospital on Saturday.
