The Home Depot, in conjunction with the U.S. Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of 2,000 Hampton Bay Humidifiers due to faulty component that poses a fire and burn hazard concern.
To this date, the company has been made aware of 18 reports in which the dehumidifiers caught fire. One consumer suffered a burn to his forearm.
The recalled dehumidifiers are model number HB-50. They are beige, have four wheels and “Hampton Baby” is printed on the front panel.
Consumers should contact Home Depot for a free gift card equal to the amount of the purchase price. In the meantime, the dehumidifiers should not be used to avoid injury.
For more information, call Home Depot at (800) 553-3199 or visit www.homedepot.com.
Incident and injury reports involving the recalled items either directly related to this recall or a different hazard with the same product, should be reported to the CPSC.
