Pete Burns

Peter F. (Pete) Burns graduated from Centre College of Kentucky in 1971 where he was captain of the wrestling team and two-time conference champion. He graduated from Cumberland School of Law Cum Laude in 1975. While at Cumberland, Mr. Burns served as the Executive Editor of Cumberland Law Review and was a member of the Order of Barristers. He was also a member of the three-person Regional Championship Moot Court Team. From 1975 to 1976 he was Law Clerk to Associate Justice Hugh Maddox, Supreme Court of Alabama.

Mr. Burns's practice areas include business litigation, will contests, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, and other matters of complex civil litigation. Mr. Burns relies heavily upon computer software for litigation support and was designated as Summation's featured litigators for two to five person firms. He is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, Supreme Court of Alabama, United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth, and Eleventh Circuits, and in the Northern and Southern Districts of Alabama. Mr. Burns is a Certified Alabama Mediator; Board-Certified Civil Trial Advocate, National Board of Trial Advocacy; and a member of the following: the American Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association, the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, the South Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, and the Mobile Bar Association (Chairman, Law & Technology, Civil Practice, State & County Courts Committee).

Mr. Burns has been married to his wife, Renea, for 30 years and together they have two grown children - Erin, who is a graduate of Rollins Collegeand has a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling, and Peter, who is a senior at Centre College of Kentucky. Both Pete and Renea are members of Christ United Methodist Church.
