AttorneyBorn and raised in Okemos, Michigan, I obtained my undergraduate degree in Public Relations with a minor in Law and Practical Writing from Western Michigan University. In 2011, I left the Midwest to complete my legal education at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in sunny San Diego, California. While in law school I worked with the Veteran’s Legal Assistance Clinic, providing free legal services to veteran men and women suffering from substance abuse issues, interned with the San Diego Public Defender’s office and interned with Justice Patricia Benke at the Fourth District court of Appeal – Division One. I also worked as a mentor to younger students struggling with law school courses. My aim was to help struggling students improve their grades to be able to complete their legal education and ultimately pass the bar exam.
After graduating from law school in 2014, I volunteered as a post-bar law clerk with the Riverside County Public Defender before landing a full-time position as court appointed counsel in San Diego’s juvenile dependency system. In 2016, I accepted a position as a Deputy Public Defender in Riverside County where I spent a year appearing on misdemeanor matters. After a year, I moved on to tougher felony cases where I was part of the felony preliminary hearing team; handling cases from arraignment through preliminary exam. In April 2019, I left California to be closer to my family and returned to Michigan. At that time, I accepted a position with Grewal Law, PLLC.
