The Habitat for Humanity Build Project was one of those great and rewarding opportunities to give back and experience an extra dimension to caring. It was also a great change of pace trading in the tools of our trade-computers, blackerrys and cell phones for a different kind of tools – hammers, nails, roof slabs, and paint and get out of our comfort zone and experience the rewards of helping someone build their home.

Vivian, the home owner and a proud mother to two boys was extremely grateful and kind to everyone. She’s there two days a week working on her home with a full time job as correction officer at Miami, Florida Jail.
Regardless of the 96°F temperature that felt more like 115°F while working on the roof top, Mayra Lindsay, Esq. felt that being there was important to her "We all need to help each other and do whatever we can" she said and continued hammering on the roof.
Mark Journey a Business Litigation Lawyer replied jokingly "we are all here because we have nothing better to do at 8AM on a Saturday."
Although, some of us felt that the hardest part of working on the roof top was overcoming our fear of heights, most of us agreed that the heat was impossible. Regardless of the heat Joel Bello, a Family Attorney was grateful that he is learning new skills to help him fix things around his house.
Spencer Aronfeld, a Coral Gables Personal Injury Lawyer and Founder of Lawyers To The Rescue was climbing the ladder and as he got to the top and took a few steps on roof, he then realized that the shoes he was wearing had no grip and his fear of heights was creeping back; but that did not stop him from staying on the roof top and hammering away. Eventually Spencer decided to go down and join his associate Bruce Shemrock on paint duty.
Ultimately this experience was rewarding to all of us and we all agreed that we will definitely participate in future Habitat Projects and the only thing everyone asked of Lawyers To The Rescue is to schedule all Habitat Projects during winter time.
