The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Dynacraft BSC of American Canyon, California, the distributor, have recalled approximately 8,900 Urban Shredder Ride-on toys, due to a serious fall hazard due to unexpected acceleration. The toy is battery-powered.

The company, Dynacraft BSC, has received 17 reports of acceleration incidents having occurred with this toy. The unintended acceleration presents a risk of injury for young children.To-date no injuries have been reported.

The Urban Shredder is a battery-powered ride-on toy and was sold at Target, Toys ‘R’ Us and Walmart stores throughout the country from November 2012 through February 2013 for from $270 to $350.  The Urban Shredder Ride-on toys were also sold online by Amazon.com, Target.com, ToysRUs.com, and Walmart.com, and were manufactured in China by Heshan Congtin Technological Development Co. Ltd.

The CPSC is advising parents to remove these Hot Wheels-branded Urban Shredder Ride-on toys from their children’s access immediately and to contact the company, Dynacraft, to arrange for a full refund.

These ride-on toys were sold in two color combinations, green and black (model numbers 8801-05 and 8801-05com) and red and black (model numbers 8801-15) and are imprinted with Hot Wheels graphics. Model numbers can be located on a label beneath the Urban Shredder, as well as the dates of manufacture (September 15, 2012, October 15, 2012, and December 1, 2012– in the YYYY/MM/DD format), and serial numbers beginning with "CT" followed by a series of numbers.

Consumers may contact Dynacraft to arrange for a refund of the full purchase price of the Urban Shredder Ride-on toy by calling 1(800)551-0032 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.
