The Oriental Trading Company has issued a voluntary recall of ceramic banks, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), due to excessive levels of lead in the paint, which is prohibited under federal law. Lead can be toxic to young children and cause adverse health effects.

To this date, there have been no reports of illness associated with this recall.

The recalled ceramic banks are yellow and shaped like a pig or a lion. They measure 4 inches in length (view photos). They were sold online at www.orientaltrading.com and www.funexpresss.com and also through their catalogs from February 2003 through September 2010.

Consumers are urged to take the recalled items from children and to discard them. Contact the company at (800) 723-6155 or visit them online for information about receiving a credit or refund.
