It doesn’t sound like a big recall, but a broken control valve in the fuel assembly of certain model year 2013 Chrysler 200s and Dodge Avenger vehicles produced from October 30, 2012, through November 2, 2012, may mean a lot to their owners.
According to their website, the problem of the broken control valve was reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in early February. Chrysler has begun to notify owners of the problem and advise them that the broken valve may cause a fuel leakage, engine stall and/or contribute to a vehicle crash. In addition, a fuel leak could result in a fire, hence, the recall. This is a safety-related defect.
Chrysler’s dealers will inspect the fuel tank assembly and replace any affected control valves free. The recall will begin in March 2013.
