The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Health Canada and The Toro Company of Bloomington, Minnesota, have announced a voluntary recall of 2,600 Toro® Z Master Riding lawnmowers in the U.S. and 31 in Canada, due to a fire hazard. The traction drive belt in this U.S.-manufactured mower can wear through the mower’s fuel tank creating a fuel leak and fire hazard. While no injuries have been reported to-date, the Toro Company has received five incident reports.
This riding lawnmower was sold by Toro authorized dealers throughout the country from January 2012 through August 2012 for from $7,700 to $8,700.The model affected by this recall is the 2012 Toro Z Master Commercial 2000 Series ZRT riding mower. The words, "Toro" and "2000 Series" are noted on the side and "Z Master Commercial" is printed on the front of the mower. Model and serial numbers affected by this recall are model number 74141 with serials from 312000101 to 312000784, model 74143 with serial numbers from 312000101 to 312000887, and model 74145 with serial numbers from 312000101 to 312001178.
Consumers are advised to stop using the mowers and contact a Toro dealer to arrange a free repair. Toro has contacted registered owners.
