On Friday (January 29, 2010), Honda Motor Company declared it would recall a total of 646,000 units of the Fit/Jazz and City models internationally, with about 140,000 models in the United States. The recall is said to fix a defective master switch, which can cause water to enter the power window switch and in some cases cause a fire. There were three instances of the problem leading to a fire, two in the United States and one in South Africa.

A spokeswoman says the recall includes all models sold in North America, South America, South Africa, Europe and Asia, except for Japan.
