Last week mistrial was declared in California in two men’s Vioxx lawsuits against drug maker Merck & Co., reports ABC Action News in Tampa.
The jury, which heard the two Vioxx cases tried together, became deadlocked on the third question in the verdict form. The jury did answer “yes” to the first two questions, which acknowledged that Vioxx had “potential risks or side-effects that were known or knowable and that they presented a substantial danger to users” of the drug.
The report also said that Merck faced 27,200 Vioxx lawsuits as of Nov. 30, 2006.
