Christmas means many things to each of us.
Somehow Merry Christmas has become the condensed greeting and message we deliver to each other. Yet, merriment is probably not what most of us would put at the top of our list of meanings. (And, jolliness probably ranks even lower.)
Perhaps, we should couple the greeting with I love you.
That may be closer to what we are trying to say with our hugs and gifts and cards and special dishes. It may be closer to the spirit of the season.
I am going to give it a try.
