On March 17, a 17-year-old driver lost control of his car, jumped a curb and hit a bicyclist head-on on Highland Park Way Southwest. Witnesses reported that the 17-year-old appeared to be racing another car on Highway 99 before he lost control while changing lanes. The teen driver admitted to authorities he was driving approximately 80 mph when he lost control of the car. The bicyclist died from head injuries.
