Jon Corzine, the 60 year old Governor of New Jersey, remains in intensive care after being seriously injured in a auto crash. He was the front seat passenger in an SUV being driven by a state trooper when it was forced into a guard rail by a hit and run driver. Incredibly, he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Every major study done to date shows that wearing seatbelts saves lives and dramatically reduces injuries. The Governor fractured his femur, the large leg bone, and is on a ventilator. Our prayers go out to him for a speedy recovery. He is the third governor in a row to break a leg while in office. Governor McGreevey did so in a beach accident and Governor Whitman broke hers skiing in the Alps.
