I’ve written about this before. But it deserves emphasis–even if it comes through repetition.

Head injuries are overlooked by doctors all the time. Even when the warning signs are there. Doctors are frequently too busy setting broken arms or prescribing pain killers to look at and assess what may be the most serious injury associated with car accidents.

If you’ve been in a car accident fill out the following Hidden Injury Checklist. If you check more than a couple of boxes it’s likely that you’ve suffered a closed head injury.

TRAUMA STAGE:

 Loss of consciousness
 Change in mental state
 Amnesia
 Nausea
 Vomiting
 Dizziness
 Headache
 Blurred Vision

OTHER PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS:

 Fatigue
 Sleep Disturbance
 Lethargy
 Sensory Loss
 Seizures/Abnormal Twitching

COGNITIVE DEFICITS INVOLVING:

 Attention/Concentration
 Perception
 Memory
 Speech/Language
 Executive Functions

BEHAVIORAL CHANGES OR ALTERATIONS IN EMOTIONAL RESPONSIVITY:

 Irritability
 Quickness to Anger
 Disinhibition
 Flattened Personality Affect
 Emotional Lability
