A week ago Thursday , a five year old boy was struck by a hit and run driver on Marion Street and Thomas Avenue in St Paul. He was autistic, had climbed out of his bedroom window and wandered away while his mother took care of his younger siblings.
Sunday afternoon, The driver surrendered to police and admitted that he had been trying to light a cigarette at the time of the collision. He said that fled because he had panicked/ drinking.
The information is that the autistic boy is back at home after being in the hospital. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt worse. But, it is just another reminder how important it is to just drive while you are behind the wheel.
