Today , I came close to hitting a pedestrian while going to work this morning . The crosswalk is on Charlotte Pike in front of the State Capital . A crosswalk was recently put up in the middle of the street with no traffic light to stop oncoming cars . No warning other than a sign is placed to alert drivers that a person may cross the street at any time . Surely , the placement of the crosswalk could not be at a worst place. I looked up the law on the use of a crossswalk . When traffic control signals are not in place the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian when the pedestrian is upon the half of the roadway upon which the vehicle is traveling . So the pedestrian has the right-of -way , but what about the placement of the crosswalk.
