A Pierce County woman accused of crashing a sport-utility vehicle into a Seattle police cruiser and killing rookie Officer Joselito “Lito” Barber on Sunday appeared to be intoxicated and had drugs stashed inside her body, according to court papers released Thursday.
Even though the officer’s family will receive benefits from the Department of Labor and Industries and various insurers, they also have a wrongful death claim against the driver who caused the accident.
