Another NYC bus was involved in an accident yesterday in New Castle, Delaware. The bus owned by AM USA Express in New York City overturned on Delaware State Route 1 south while attempting to exit onto U.S. 13 north.
The bus driver was turning onto the ramp when the bus overturned, traveled down a slight grass embankment and then rotated onto its left side where it came to rest, said Delaware State Police Sgt. Paul G. Shavack.
One victim died at the scene after being pinned under the overturned bus. Another passenger died at Christiana hospital as a result of traumatic injuries suffered during the Delaware bus crash. None of the 50 people on board escaped injury.
“Bus companies must take the utmost care to ensure the safety of their passengers,” said bus accident attorney Jim Ronca.
The bus was on its way back to New York from Washington, D.C. when the accident occurred.
AM USA Express, which operates four motorcoaches and two minibuses, was involved in one other crash during the last 2 years, according to federal motorcoach safety records. No injuries were reported during the previous bus crash.
