Gree, working with the CPSC, initiated a voluntary recall of more than two million dehumidifiers, in the U.S. and Canada, because the units can overheat, smoke and catch fire; posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

To this date, there have been more than 160 complaints which included 46 fires and more than $2 million in property damage. No injuries have been reported. Consumers are urged to unplug the recalled dehumidifiers and to call the company for information about a refund.

This recall involves several dehumidifiers with different brand names including Kenmore, Premiere, SuperClima and more that were manufactured by Gree. A complete list of recalled model numbers and date codes as well as other information can be obtained by visiting the CPSC Web site. The recalled dehumidifiers were sold between August 2008 and August 2013 in Canada and between January 2005 and August 2013 in the United States.
