Reports circulated last week regarding a lawsuit filed in Washington, D.C. by a judge (who is also an attorney) against a dry cleaner for a missing pair of pants. The amount demanded by the judge? $65,000,000.00!! To read this article, click here! This lawsuit is ridiculous and is a disgrace to the legal profession.

The attorneys at Bachus & Schanker are trial lawyers. We are not afraid to file a lawsuit to protect the rights of our clients and to ensure they receive just compensation for their personal injuries. We do not file frivolous lawsuits nor do we file lawsuits on cases that we do not believe in. The $65 million lawsuit over a pair pants is an awful example of how some members of our profession, unfortunately, abuse our legal system and then, as a result, give lawyers a bad reputation. It must be noted that this lawsuit is considered commercial litigation. Here at Bachus & Schanker we only represent clients for personal injuries. It must also be noted that this is a non-typical case. A lawsuit of this nature alleging these type of frivolous damages is not how the majority of attorneys operate. As personal injury attorneys we go after the large insurance corporations who so often do not step up to the plate and take responsibility when someone is injured due to no fault of their own. We do not sue small businesses alleging an inflated value based upon a frivolous claim. We sue to protect our clients and to ensure they receive just compensation.
