Augusta National Inc., successfully obtained an injunction against an auction house, Green Jacket Auctions, Inc., to prevent it from selling, among other things, Byron Nelson’s green jacket and the green jackets of two other club members. Augusta National successfully argued that that the green jackets were either stolen or counterfeit, because Masters champion jackets can only be removed from Augusta National’s grounds during the first year after initial presentation, and member jackets cannot be removed at all. Green Jacket Auctions denies all claims and removed the jackets from the auction, but not before the Bryon Nelson jacket fetched a high bid of almost $115,000.
