Tristar Food announced a nationwide recall of their Blue Cat Flavor Drink (Lanmao) due to a possible Melamine contamination.
The recalled products were distributed nationwide in Asian grocery stores.
The product comes in 100 ml plastic bottles with a BESTBEFORE date. 4 flavors, printed in Chinese, are included in the recall. Packaging includes a logo of a blue cat on the back of the bottle and the word “blue cat” (in Chinese) on the front.
Consumers are advised to stop using the products immediately and to contact their doctor with any questions regarding possible health risks.
The recalled flavors include: strawberry, sweet orange, pineapple and peach.
To date, the company has not received any reports of illness associated with the products.
The recall was announced after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered that the product was found to contain Melamine, an industrial chemical used to make plastics and fertilizers.
Consumers are urged to return any products to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions can contact the company directly at (201) 938-2590.
