A voluntary recall of certain Gluten Free Café Chocolate Sesame Bars and Cinnamon Sesame Bars, associated with Sunland Inc., peanut butter products, has been recalled because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Salmonella can cause serious and potentially fat infection in the young, elderly and those with compromised immune systems. To date, there have been no reports of illness associated with this recall. However, if you feel you may have ingested some of these products, you should immediately consult your doctor.
The “Best Buy” date can be found on the lower half panel of the retail box and also on the back of each bar. Specific product and lot codes can be viewed on the FDA Web site.
The items included in the recall were distributed nationwide from June 2011 to October 2012 mainly through retail stores and internet orders. Consumers that have the affected product should destroy them or return them to the store of purchase for a refund.
For more information, consumers are directed to call the company at 1-800-434-4246.
