If you shop at Target, pay close attention to your credit and debit card bills in the coming months. The mega department store that is a favorite for general items and electronics for holiday shoppers is investigating a massive data breach involving theft of data stored on the magnetic strips of cards used at Target stores.

Days after bloggers and financial reports broke news of the breach, Target released a statement confirming the breach, and warning that 40 million credit and debit card accounts may have been impacted between November 27 and December 15.

The theft appears to have started around Black Friday 2013, among the biggest retail shopping days of the year. Cyber Security blog Krebs on Security is reporting that two of the top 10 credit card issuers believe the breach extends to all Target locations in the country, though the company has not yet responded to those claims.

If you or anyone you know have shopped at Target between November 27 and the present and discover unauthorized payments or use of your card or accounts connected with them, please contact our firm to discuss your legal rights at 1-800-883-2299.
