Discount School Supply voluntarily recalled magnetic color sorting boards, working in cooperation with the CPSC, because there is a potential for the metal balls to be released which poses a choking hazard and internal injury risk associated with ingestion of the magnets and metal ball. Also, the metal balls contain excessive levels of led, violation the federal lead paint standard.
To date, the company has received six reports of the boards breaking allowing accessibility to children. Two reports involved the magnet detaching, but there has been no injuries reported.
The recall involves Excellerations magnetic color sorting boards with cupcake cut outs that are used to teach young children about color and sorting. The CPSC Website has a photo of the recalled items for consumer reference.
