Google has issued a voluntary recall of HP Chromebook 11 power supply chargers because they can overheat and melt, posing a fire and burn hazard to users.
To this date, nine reports of the chargers overheating and melting have been reported to Google. One report involved a consumer suffering a minor burn injury while another involved minor property damage.
The recall involves chargers that were sold along with the HP Chromebook 11 and carry model number MU15-N1052-A00S. The items were sold nationwide at Best Buy Stores as well as online at Amazon.com and Google Play among others from October 2013 through November 2013. Photos of the recalled items can be viewed on the CPSC Website for easy reference.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled chargers for the HP Chromebook 11 and to contact Google directly to arrange a free replacement charge. Consumers can call Google at (866) 628-1371 for additional information or visit them online at http://chromebook.com.
