Mike Sheehan, Fox 5 TV Newsman and former cop, was arrested when he refused a Breathalyzer test following a traffic accident that involved his vehicle and an NYPD officer on a horse.
The Monday night accident happened on North Moore Street at Varick Street in Manhattan.
Sheehan, 60, was arraigned Tuesday and charged with reckless endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated and impaired.
Through his lawyer, Sheehan denies the allegations and contends the horse ran into his vehicle.
The horse reportedly ran from the scene, but was found a block away with cuts and bruises to his chest and right leg. The officer was taken to the hospital with a leg injury, according to the New York Post.
Sheehan was released on his own recognizance today pending a hearing. His next court date is May 19.
According to a Fox 5 spokeswoman, "management is aware of the matter and reviewing it."
Sheehan has been a reporter at Fox 5 since 1993.
