A voluntary recall of certain expired bags of Hearts of Romaine salad was issued by Fresh Express due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
To this date there have been no reports of illness associated with this recall. The recalled items were distributed mainly in Northeast and Midwest of the U.S.
The recall involves 18 oz. Hearts of Romaine salad with a Use-By-Date of September 26, 2012 and Product Code H256808.
Consumers that have this product in their possession should discard it immediately. For more information, questions should be directed to the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center at (800) 242-5472.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found the tainted salad during a random test. The agency and company are working together to eliminate the risk of illness.
