Graco, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, issued a voluntary recall of more than 1.2 million Graco Harmony High Chairs in the U.S. and Canada.
The hazard involves screws holding the front legs which can loosen allowing the chair to tip. Additionally, the plastic brackets on the rear legs can crack causing the chair to tip over. Both issues pose a fall hazard to children.
To this date, the company has received 464 reports of the screws loosening/falling out and/or the plastic brackets cracking. Twenty-four reports involved injuries including bumps, bruises and in cone case a hairline fracture to the arm.
The recall involves Harmony High Chairs manufactured from November 2003 through December 2009. A complete list of model numbers affected by the recall can be found on the CPSC Web site.
The agency advises parents and caregivers to stop using the recalled high chairs and to contact Graco at (877) 842-3206 for a free repair kit. More information can be found at www.gracobaby.com.
In January, Graco recalled 1.5 million strollers due to risk of fingertip amputation.
