Yesterday, I discovered a Tennessee law that has some teeth to it regarding invasion of privacy. The creates civil liability for any person whose wire, oral,or electronic communication is intentionally intercepted, disclosed,or used in violation of T-C-A 39-13-601. I have been practicing law since 1994 and I always get excited when I learn some new law about a hot topic. These issues of email tampering or hacking into social networking accounts has been coming up recently. If you find out your ex-wife or someone else has been intercepting your email, you now have a cause of action to stop these practices.
