Mr. McConkie has successfully tried a number of landmark cases individually and with his partner, Bradley Parker. These include cases involving jury verdicts in excess of a million dollars and verdicts awarding the largest wrongful death damages ($52 million) and the largest medical malpractice damages ($9.7 million) in the history of Utah. He has also successfully tried important civil rights cases in the State of Utah in the areas of religious liberty and women’s rights.

Mr. McConkie has served as Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Utah, chief of staff for United States Congressman Gunn McKay, member of the Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Improving the Jury System, member of the Supreme Court Committee on the Rules of Evidence, chairman of the Utah State Bar Committee on Advertising and Specialization, adjunct faculty member at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, member of the Inns of Court, legal counsel for the Odyssey House, and Democratic candidate for Utah Attorney General in 1980. He earned a B.A. degree in political science and philosophy from Brigham Young University in 1970 and a J.D. degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1973.

Active in numerous humanitarian efforts, Mr. McConkie established an adoption agency in Guatemala and El Salvador. He has also organized successful campaigns against radioactive waste storage and mandatory arbitration agreements.
