The Girl Scouts of America issued a precautionary recall of some lots of its Lemon Chalet Crème cookies after receiving consumer complaints of a foul smell and taste.
According to a statement by Little Brown Bakers, “Certain lots of Lemon Chalet Crème cookies contain oils that may be breaking down which can result in an off taste and smell.”
Little Brown Bakers, located in Kentucky, is one of two bakeries in the U.S. that manufactures Girl Scout Cookies.
No illnesses have been reported. This is a quality issue, not a health issue, warns the bakery.
The cookie recall spans 24 states:
Alabama, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.
The number of potentially affected boxes totals 636,000, according to a spokesperson for Little Brownie Bakers.

Consumers who purchased the lemon cookies can call 1-800-962-1718 for refund information.
