Although no illnesses have been reported, Natura Pet Products voluntarily recalled certain dry pet foods because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Pets infected with Salmonella may be lethargic or have fever, vomiting or bloody diarrhea as well as notable decrease in appetite. Salmonella also poses a health threat to humans that handle contaminated pet products. The following symptoms should be monitored: diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramping and fever. Contamination can also result in more serious illnesses such as infections, arthritis, eye irritation and muscle pain amongst other concerns.

The products involved in the recall were sold through various veterinary clinics as well as online at pet specialty retailers nationwide in the U.S. and other countries. The dry cat food expiration dates on the recalled items fall between the following ranges: 1/1/2014 to 3/24/2014. The dry cat treats have expiration dates from 7/1/13 to 9/27/13. The included lot codes are: Expiration Date: 12/14/13 thru 3/24/14.
