An employee at Hawthorn Health Multi Care Center in Buffalo has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting an elderly nursing home patient, according police and officials at the facility.
Police were called to the home located on Delaware Avenue on Saturday night. The nursing assistant, 30, was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree with a disabled person.
According to officials, the incident involved a 77-year-old female patient. The patient’s name is not being released at this time while the investigation is ongoing.
In 2008, there were more than 30,000 reported cases of elder abuse in New York State.
