Onondaga County will pay a Cicero woman $75,000 to settle a lawsuit that stems from a slip and fall accident that happened on the county-owned plaza outside the Everson Museum of Art.

The woman, 56, sued the county in Supreme Court, seeking $250,000 after her fall in May of 2007. Kristen Rickert fractured both of her feet and right ankle when she fell on the steps of the plaza.

County attorney Gordon Cuffy said the sidewalk next to the plaza had been fenced off for construction. The woman alleged that signs directed pedestrians to walk around the sidewalk to the area where she was injured.

The settlement was approved by county Legislature on Tuesday with an 18-0 vote.
