3M Company is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), to voluntarily recall Filtrete room air purifiers due to a fire hazard.
To this date, the company has received two incident reports associated with this recall. In one incident the air purifier overheated and in the other the unit caught fire. There have been no injuries reported.
The recall involves 3M air purifiers branded Filtrete – the recalled models are Ultra Quiet, number FAP00-RS and Maximum Allergen, number FAP00-L – which was sold exclusively at Lowes stores. The affected products have serial numbers that start with: E, F, G, H, I or J.
