Quaker Oats has issued a product recall of Aunt Jemima Pancake & Waffle mix sent to around 17 states due to fears of salmonella contamination. Salmonella can cause an illness with diarrhea, nausea, fever, and headache. The risk in the recalled pancake mix is in the raw or uncooked mix.

The products, have a “Best Before” date between February. 8, 2009, and February 16, 2009.

The recall affects: Aunt Jemima Buttermilk Complete, 5 lb. (UPC 30000 43272); Aunt Jemima Original, 2 lb. (UPC 30000 05040); Aunt Jemima Original Complete, 2 lb. (UPC 30000 05070); Aunt Jemima Buttermilk Complete, 2 lb. (UPC 30000 05300)

Quaker Oats says the risk to consumers is minimal as most of the product was not stocked before the recall. If you do have the recalled mix you can return it to the store that you purchased it at or visit www.auntjemima.com for more information.
