Champion Power Equipment, in conjunction with the CPSC, issued a voluntary recall of portable generators due to a fuel leak from the machine’s carburetor, which poses a fire hazard.

To this date, the company has received 11 reports of fuel leaking which has included eight reports of the generators catching fire. Two incidents involved property damage.

The recall involves two models of Champion Power Equipment portable generators with the following information.

Item one has model number 41332 and on the control panel “8250 starting watts” and “6500 running watts” on the side of the fuel tank.

Item two has model number 41532 and on the side panel, above the control panel “9000 starting watts” and “7000 running watts” on the control panel.

A chart which includes the affected serial numbers can be found on the CPSC Web site. They were sold exclusively at Costco Stores nationwide.

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled generators and to contact the company for a free repair kit which will be installed by an authorized dealer. Alternatively, consumes can return the units to the store for a refund.
