The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is working with Sears/Kmart to recall Kenmore oscillating fan heaters because broken motor mounts can cause the units to overheat, catch fire and ignite nearby items which poses a burn and fire hazard.
To date, the company has received seven reports of the fan heaters catching fire and/or smoking, which included two injury reports.
The recall involves Kenmore oscillating fan heaters that carry model number 127.90914310. Consumers are urged to discontinue using the recalled items and to unplug them and then return them to any Sears or Kmart store for a refund.
For more information regarding this recall, please call Sears/Kmart at (888) 820-3341 or by visiting them online at www.sears.com and www.kmart.com under the Product recall section.
