Consumers who purchased a step stool with storage at Target may be at risk of serious injuries if the stool collapses beneath them, prompting a recall of the product.
Minneapolis, MN based Target Corporation announced today that the company is recalling 206,000 Circo and Do Your Room (DYR) wooden step stools with storage due to 26 reports of falls that occurred when the product broke or collapsed under the weight of the user. Of those reports, six children and one adult suffered scrapes and bruises, one adult fractured their wrist and another adult fractured her wrist, hip and pelvis.
According to a release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, (CPSC), consumers may have purchased this step stool for $25-$30 at a Target store anywhere in the U.S. or from Target.com from January 2007 through October 2010.
The recalled two-step wooden step stool came in various colors, including natural, natural and red, white and honey and had a lid that opened to reveal storage on either the bottom or top step. Consumers can find the brand name Circo or DYR and the UPC number on a label under the step stool.

Consumers should stop using these recalled step stools and return them to any Target store for a full refund or call Target at (800) 440-0680 with questions.
