Sunbeam, working in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of convertible clothes irons due to a wiring defect that can cause the unit to overheat, posing a burn injury to consumers.

To this date, the company has received seventeen reports of the irons overheating. In three reports, the units caught fire, but there were no injuries.

The recall involves Sunbeam Convertible Iron with model number GCSBRS – 103, which can be found on the bottom of the plastic base. And they have date codes C235 or C237 imprinted on the blade.

They were sold exclusively at Bed, Bath & Beyond stores from June to November 2010.

Consumers should stop using the recalled irons and contact the company for a free replacement. For more information, call (800) 656-9708 or visit them online at www.sunbeamconvertible.com.
