Standard and economy hammock stands, sold by Twin Oaks, have been voluntarily recalled in cooperation with the CPSC, because the foot brackets can crack, causing the stand collapse which in turn poses a fall hazard to consumers.
To this date, 43 reports of the brackets cracking have been reported to the company including several instances of consumers falling to the ground when the brackets gave way. But there have been no injuries reported.
The recalled hammock stands are used with all Twin Oaks double and family-sized rope hammocks. The affected items are model number 14015 (green) or 14016 (black). [photos]
The items were sold on Twin Oaks Web site and catalog, independent retailers nationwide and craft fairs from December 2007 through June 2011.
Consumers are urged to discontinue using the hammock stands. Twin Oaks should be contacted for instructions on how to receive free replacement brackets.
