Trial Lawyer and End Distracted Driving (EndDD.org) founder Joel Feldman will be a keynote speaker at the upcoming Howard H. Steel Conference of Pediatric Spinal Cord Injuries and Dysfunction on November 29th in Lake Buena Vista Florida.
Feldman will lecture on the dialogue of loss and the importance of community outreach and support for the member who has suffered a loss.
“Often those who have suffered terrible loss such as spinal cord injury are hindered in their recovery by the lack of helpful support by professionals, friends and family members.” Said Feldman.
The presentation will focus specifically on grief and mourning, talking about loss, and the importance of providing helpful support in difficult situations.
Feldman suffered a traumatic loss in 2009 when his 21-year-old daughter, Casey, was killed by a distracted driver. Throughout his as a personal injury and motor vehicle accident attorney at Anapol Schwartz, Joel has represented a number of clients who have suffered the loss of a limb, lifestyle, or even a loved one as a result of a catastrophic accident. “I want to Share my personal story of loss as well as what I have learned from working as an attorney and counselor to help improve the dialogue of loss so that necessary support can be forthcoming”
Joel will also use his time to talk about his End Distracted Driving Campaign, which he created in response his loss of Casey. This nationwide program puts trial lawyers into high school classrooms to educate young people about the dangers of distracted driving. Joel would like to see healthcare professionals join in the fight to protect young people and help promote distracted driving awareness.
