A study published in the May 17, 2012 New England Journal of Medicine took many people by surprise. Z-Pak, or Zithromax, a popular antibiotic drug was associated with a higher risk of cardiac death than some other treatment options.
One of the most surprising parts of the study was that the cardiac deaths associated with Z-Pak typically happen suddenly. In other words, the risk presented is that of sudden cardiac death that typically occurs with little or no warning and little or no time for medical intervention. The risk associated with Zithromax is approximately double that for Amoxicillin, another popular antibiotic drug that may often be used to treat the same conditions.
For this reason, it is important to know about the increased risk heart attacks associated with Zithromax and to talk to your doctor about your options before you make any decisions about your care. And If you suffered a heart attack while taking Zithromax, you should consider consultingh a lawyer handling Zithromax claims.
