I recently re-posted an earlier blog about wearing seat belts for winter driving safety: Buckle Up For Winter Driving Safety.
This post reminded me of some of our seat belt defect cases and how important seat belt design is to overall safety. It's every bit as critical to car safety as having adequate tires on your car. One of cases was featured on NBC news in Chicago during a feature discussing the auto industry's knowledge that lap-belt only seat belts were not effective in many crashes.
The federal government finally made three-point seat belts madatory in every seating position in 2008. However, there will still be vehicles on the road over the next decade with dangerous two-point lap belt only restraints. Make sure that your belt fits properly and is worn correctly.
