In another setback for Medtronic, its cardiac implant device, the Sprint Fidelis has been shown to have a faulty lead wire. The defect can cause the defibrillator to jolt the heart when the heart’s rhythm doesn’t need to be adjusted and/or it can fail to send the necessary electric impulse when the heart actually needs to be brought back into a normal cardiac rhythm. The Sprint Fidelis is implanted in approximately 235,000 cardiac patients and Medtronic has warned doctors of the faulty implant device.
